Aloha kakou! My name is Tiramisu and I’m this week’s Pet of The Week at Maui Humane Society! I was found walking around Paia with a limp — the guess is that I fell out of a truck. I’m all healed up now and ready to get out of the shelter and into a home!

Presented by Good Fix, which is a program of the international Greater Good Charities, it was held with the assistance of HARF, the Maui Humane Society and community volunteers. The 15-person Good Fix medical crew was comprised of personnel from around the Mainland, as well as one from Mexico.
The Maui News: Adoption fees lowered as part of ‘Empty the Shelters’ July campaign
Maui Humane Society is reducing adoption fees as it participates in the nationwide “Empty the Shelters” campaign starting today through July 31, the shelter announced. Maui Humane Society’s reduced adoption rates during the campaign will include $50 for adult dogs and kittens; $25 for small animals, including guinea pigs and rabbits; and $10 for adult cats.

Big holidays usually come with big events. For some, that big event is a fireworks’ show. Whether official fireworks shows or your neighbors firing some off, fireworks create fear and anxiety for the local wildlife as well as our pets. For pets and other animals, their sense of sound of smell is much more heightened than ours. Loud sounds like explosions are a terrifying experience, especially for those pets who are not nestled inside with their caretakers.
