Guests who raise the most funds for the contest will be invited to spend a VIP night at one of the three resorts on May 1 and they will also get to choose the dog they want to spend time with.
The Wags to Riches fundraising contest will conclude on Friday, April 30, at noon. The top 16 fundraisers will be announced at the close of the contest. So far, the Maui Humane Society has reached 19% of its $50,000 goal, according to the donation platform Qgiv.
The Four Seasons Resort Maui, Fairmont Kea Lani, and Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort are going to the dogs. The three luxury resorts are teaming up with the Maui Humane Society for its annual Wags to Riches event. Only this year, rather than host a mere event, the hotels are giving away one-night stays for the dogs and their human friends.
“We love the idea of taking a homeless shelter dog to a world-class resort where they’ll be spoiled for the night,” Maui Humane Society CEO Steve MacKinnon said.

Participants will compete for a coveted sleepover spot in the kennels while the top fundraisers will earn a VIP night with a shelter pup at several of Hawaii’s top-rated luxury beachfront resorts.
Under state law, abandoning an animal, including by trapping and relocating the animal, is a crime punishable by up to one year in jail and a $2,000 fine, said Emily Drose, community cat coordinator for the Maui Humane Society. The Maui Humane Society can provide resources as to how to keep cats off your property without harming them.

The Maui Humane Society (MHS) will be hosting its second annual ‘Bad Pet Art Fundraiser’ from Thursday, Feb. 25, through Sunday, Feb. 28, and is inviting the public to participate. Participate by donating a minimum of $20 and submit your photo on MHS’s Facebook Page.
