It’s been a whole year since Maui Humane Society made history by participating in what’s been called “the largest pet rescue flight on record,” Paws Across the Pacific.
Maui Humane Society Opens Doors to Public for Adoptions
Maui Humane Society is pleased to announce that they’re opening the doors to the shelter for adoptions 7 days a week. Additionally, appointments are no longer needed to view and adopt animals. Daily operating hours are 11am to 4pm. Due to the increased number of animals currently housed at the shelter, Humane Society officials are hoping that the extended hours and elimination of the appointment requirement will encourage more adoptions.

If you have been thinking of adopting a dog or cat, now is the time to go for it. Fostering is available as well. Maui Humane said there are no training or classes required right now.
KITV4: Dogs and cats at MHS need your help-seeking temporary homes
Due to the high number of cats and dogs at the shelter, the Maui Humane Society is seeking temporary SOS foster homes for adult pets. There is no training necessary, being an SOS foster is a service for anyone who can take a dog or a cat into their home for a minimum of three days or up to two weeks (preferably).

“We have a lot of animals in foster,” said Jenny Miller of MHS. “We have over 200 animals in foster homes right now and then we have a full cat ohana and we have a lot of animals in the kennels as well.”
Maui Now: Maui Humane Society Hosts First Public Adoption Event in 18+ Months on Sept. 18
No appointments are needed and adoption fees for the upcoming event are waived, courtesy of the Dave and Cheryl Duffield Foundation. The list of animals up for adoption includes: dogs, cats, kittens, ducks, bunnies and guinea pigs.
