Cat Reunites with Its Owners in Montana After It Was Displaced by the Maui Wildfires: It ‘Took a Village’
Earlier this week, the Maui Humane Society in Hawaii reunited a cat with her owners after she was displaced by the wildfires that occurred in the area last year. The cat, named Mahina, was found by the organization after surviving 100 days in the burn zone, the Maui Humane Society said in a post shared on Facebook.
Hawaiian cat lost during Maui wildfires reunited with family in Montana
Mahina finally arrived after dealing with flights in snowy Montana weather. She was thrilled to be reunited with her family to watch NFL football, one of her favorite treats besides playing with her feather toy. The Maui Humane Society covered the cost of Mahina’s health certificate and travel. Hawaiian Airlines and Alaska Airlines ensured she was safe and sound on her flight, and a trusted transporter brought her from Seattle to Montana.

Subaru Hawaiʻi donates $45,000 to nonprofits, relief efforts in annual event
Between Nov. 1 and Dec. 31, 2023, Subaru Hawaiʻi donated $250 for every Subaru vehicle purchased in Hawaiʻi, with a maximum of $15,000 going to each of three organizations selected, as part of its 12th annual Share the Love Event.
Support continues for the four-legged victims of the Maui wildfire
Maui Humane Society plans to continue to support families and pets in need thanks to the donations of the community. The support goes directly to veterinary care, pet supplies and financial assistance for pet-friendly housing.
